Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 clove garlic, halved (for rubbing)

Method

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently to mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Alternatively, you can toast the bread in a toaster or on a grill.
  3. While the bread is still warm, rub the cut side of the halved garlic clove over the surface of each toasted slice. This adds a subtle garlic flavor that enhances the bruschetta.
  4. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each garlic-rubbed toast. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil if desired and garnish with additional basil leaves.

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Allowing the tomato mixture to sit for 10 minutes before serving helps the flavors develop. Serve immediately for the best texture.
