Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice to add extra richness. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto the unbuttered side of each slice.
- Place the thinly sliced cucumbers evenly over the cream cheese on half of the bread slices. For extra flavor, you can lightly salt the cucumber slices before placing them on the bread.
- Top the cucumber-covered slices with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down. Press gently to secure the sandwiches.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully trim off the crusts from each sandwich. Cut the sandwiches into quarters or smaller triangles for a dainty presentation. Arrange them on a platter and serve immediately.
Notes
Choose soft bread like white or whole wheat for best results. Assemble the sandwiches just before serving to prevent the bread from becoming soggy. Fresh herbs like mint or chives can be added to the cream cheese spread for extra flavor.
