- Start by lightly buttering the bread slices if desired. Trim the crusts off the bread for a more elegant presentation.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture onto each slice of bread. Place the cucumber slices evenly over the cream cheese on half of the bread slices. Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Cut each sandwich into quarters or smaller triangles for a dainty presentation. Arrange them on a platter and serve immediately, or cover with a damp cloth and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
Choose English cucumbers for fewer seeds and milder flavor. Assemble sandwiches just before serving to keep the bread fresh and prevent sogginess. Add a sprinkle of fresh chives or garlic powder to the cream cheese mixture for extra flavor.
