Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix gently and set aside to let the flavors meld.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the baguette slices lightly with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the edges are golden and crisp.
- Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread. Drizzle with a little extra balsamic glaze if desired.
- Bruschetta is best served fresh. Arrange the slices on a platter and garnish with additional basil leaves for a pop of color.
Notes
Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Toast the bread until crisp to prevent sogginess. You can prepare the tomato mixture ahead and store it in the refrigerator. Add diced mozzarella or grated Parmesan for a variation.
