Instructions
- Prepare the fruit: Wash and dry all fresh fruits thoroughly. For berry frozen yogurt, slice strawberries and combine with other berries. For tropical version, peel and dice mango, and prepare pineapple chunks.
- Sweeten the yogurt: In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt with your chosen sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave). Add vanilla extract and citrus juice, then whisk until smooth and well incorporated.
- Blend the mixture: Place the fruit and yogurt mixture in a blender or food processor. Pulse until you achieve a smooth consistency with some fruit chunks remaining for texture.
- Chill and freeze: Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions, usually 20-30 minutes until thick and creamy.
- Final freeze: If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow container and freeze for 2 hours. Remove and stir vigorously with a fork to break up ice crystals, then return to freezer for another 2 hours. Repeat once more for perfect texture.
- Serve and enjoy: Scoop into bowls or cones and garnish with fresh fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness.
Notes
Use full-fat Greek yogurt for creamiest texture. Store in airtight container with parchment paper on surface to prevent ice crystals. Let sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before serving for easier scooping.
